摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-coated member of a cutting tool or the like having high adhesiveness and wear resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The cutting tool includes: a lower layer 7 composed of one or more layers each made of titanium carbide, titanium nitrride, titanium carbonitride, titanium oxycarbide, titanium oxynitride or titanium oxycarbonitride; and an Al<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">3</SB>layer 8 of anα-type crystal structure. The layers 7 and 8 are formed on the surface of a substrate 5 of the cutting tool. In the surface-coated member of the cutting tool 1 or the like, in a Raman spectrum obtained by irradiating the surface of the Al<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">3</SB>layer 8 with He-Ne laser having a wavelength of 514.53 nm, with respect to a peak intensity I<SB POS="POST">O</SB>of a broad peak adjacent on the lower wave number side from the peak of the Al<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">3</SB>layer of a wave number 416-420 cm<SP POS="POST">-1</SP>, when the peak intensity of a peak appearing in a range of a wave number 1,050-1,120 cm<SP POS="POST">-1</SP>is defined as I<SB POS="POST">1</SB>, and when the peak intensity of a peak appearing in a range of wave number 780-850 cm<SP POS="POST">-1</SP>is defined as I<SB POS="POST">2</SB>, a ratio (I<SB POS="POST">1</SB>/I<SB POS="POST">0</SB>) is 0.05-0.5 and a ratio (I<SB POS="POST">2</SB>/I<SB POS="POST">0</SB>) is also 0.05-0.5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p>
