Method for producing ice cubes

The method involves initially freezing water to an ice block from downwards to upwards. The ice block is sawed into cubes before the cubes are melted to a ball in a heated molding tool with hemispheric mold chambers (4) of a lower mold (1) and an upper mold (2). The lower mold and the upper mold are homogeneously heated during closing. The melted ice ball is directly removed from the molding tool after closing of the molds. The melted ice ball is freed from a remaining molten water film. The cubes are cooled after sawing for balancing temperature differences during a preset time span. An independent claim is also included for a device for performing a method for producing ice cubes.
