1170864 Coating apparatus REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT 15 Feb 1967 [18 Feb 1966] 7348/67 Headings B1R and R4 In a paint plant comprising a paint booth and means for ventilating same and recovering paint particles therefrom, the booth 1 is equipped with a tank 18 below said booth and connected with an air suction system 19 and also, through an air duct 15 equipped with a device for forming sheets of wash liquid, to an elongated passage 12 formed at the bottom of the booth 1 between two inclined bottom walls 8, 9 thereof, and means, 13, 14 for delivering wash liquid disposed along and near the upper end of each inclined wall so that the liquid will stream along the greater part of their top surfaces. The liquid sheet forming device preferably consists of cascade forming baffles 16 so disposed in duct 15 that the wash liquid streams from one baffle to another, the air withdrawn from room 1 by the action of the suction system 19 through tank 18 and duct 15, having to pass through said streams so as to be washed thereby. The tank 18 has at one end a closed compartment 20 separated from the tank by a filtering partition 21 having inclined plane 23 with one end immersed in the liquid in the tank and its other end overlying a paint receiving vat 24. In use, from time to time, an operative scrapes paint sludge 26 which collects on the plane 23 into the vat 24 and when the latter is full it is removed through inspection lid 25. A pump 27 recirculates the wash liquid 22 from the tank 18 back through conduits 28 to the distributor rails 13, 14.
