According to an embodiment of the present invention, a method for displaying a state of an electronic device includes: determining whether a cover is opened or closed, wherein the cover is attached to the electronic device with an image projecting part formed on at least a portion thereof; checking an operation of a state indicating part when the cover is closed; and displaying information corresponding to an operation of the state indicating part in at least a portion of an image region of a display part, which is shown through the image projecting part. The present invention also enables another embodiment. Therefore, a state of the electronic device may be displayed through the image projecting part formed on the cover even when the state indicating part is hidden by the closed cover.
