A method for operating an electronic device includes checking whether the electronic device executes one among at least one application; determining whether there is information associated with the executed application; and displaying the content of the executed application on a first layer and displaying the associated information on a second layer, when it is determined that there is information associated with the executed application. Therefore, user convenience may be improved.
