<p>A liquid crystal aligning agent is provided to exhibit excellent liquid crystal orientation when applied to TN(twisted nematic), STN(super twisted nematic) and a vertically aligned liquid crystal display device, and to obtain n liquid crystal alignment film with excellent voltage holding rate and afterimage characteristic. A liquid crystal aligning agent comprises at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of polyamic acid obtained by reacting tetracarboxylic dianhydride and diamine, and imidized polymer thereof. The tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride comprises 1,2,3,4-cyclobutanetetracarboxylic dianhydride and pyromellitic dianhydride of 1-10 mole % based on the tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride. The diamine further contains diamine having steroid skeleton. The tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride additionally contains 2,3,5-tricarboxy cyclopentylacetic dianhydride.</p> |
