<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and easily correct reading distortion when an image reading device reads an image, without using an expensive measuring instrument. <P>SOLUTION: A correction method for an image reading device comprises: by changing a direction of the device with respect to a reading region of a correction chart 20 having correcting patterns formed thereon, reading the correcting chart 20 at each direction, with the correcting patterns disposed in a plurality of different positions in the reading region, to obtain a plurality of image data; by extracting the correcting patterns from the plurality of image data obtained to compare the extracted same correcting patterns with each other, calculating a reading distortion amount corresponding to each reading position in the reading region; and correcting reading distortion of the image data based on the calculated reading distortion amount corresponding to each reading position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
