[Also in Division A5] Novel compounds of formula where R 1 is H, C 1-12 -alkyl, phenyl-(C 1-4 )alkyl or cycloalkyl, R 2 is H or C 1-4 alkyl, m is 3 or 4 and X is H, K, Na, NH 4 or substituted NH 4 are prepared by reacting with propane- or butane-sultone and an acidbinding agent, with subsequent cation exchange where desired. Intermediates of Formula II in which: R 1 = 5 - t - butyl, R 2 = 7-CH 3 ; R 1 = (CH 3 ) 3 CCH 2 - C(CH 3 ) 2 - R 2 = H; R 1 = 5-C 6 H 5 C(CH 3 ) 2 -, R 2 = H; and R 1 = 5 - cyclohexyl, R 2 = H, are prepared by condensing appropriate o-aminophenols with 4-hydroxybenzoic acid. |
