The unit (3) has an air circulating filter element (30) releasably held in a supporting frame. The supporting frame is displaceably fastened at a housing of the unit over a linear guide that is horizontally aligned. A part of a rotary bearing is partially formed by an end of the guide. The guide is partially displaceable relative to the housing of the unit. A bottom side of the housing comprises an air inlet for connecting the unit with a fume hood (1), where the housing comprises an outlet frame (20). The supporting frame comprises an upwardly opened retaining area. The air circulating filter element is designed as an odor filter or an activated charcoal filter.
