<p>The character or nature of cooling water is correctly estimated. A cooling system for an internal combustion engine (1) comprises a radiator (13), a bypass passage (14) which bypasses the radiator (13), a thermostat (15), and a control unit (30) which changes a valve opening temperature of the thermostat (15). The cooling system for the internal combustion engine (1) further comprises an estimating unit (30) which forbids valve opening of the thermostat (15) and which estimates the character of the cooling water on the basis of temperature transition of the cooling water provided in this state.</p> |
