<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To specify the position of an image corresponding to an image in a certain area included in a first medium image scanned from a surface of a medium by image scanning means, on a second medium image scanned from the surface of the medium separately from the first medium image by the image scanning means. <P>SOLUTION: A second foreground pixel specification unit 48 specifies foreground pixels in a second document image. A reference information acquisition unit 50 acquires a first mask image obtained by excluding the pixels at positions according to the foreground pixels from a reference image in a first document image. For each of plural comparison target images in a second document image, a comparison target information acquisition unit 52 acquires a second mask image obtained by excluding the pixels at positions according to the foreground pixels from the comparison target image.
