The engine has a crankcase including two cylinders (1, 1'), around which a coolant case (2) is radially outwardly arranged. The case extends in a longitudinal direction of an internal combustion engine longitudinal axis (L). A cylinder head is arranged on the crankcase by fixing elements e.g. cylinder head screws, in a cylinder longitudinal axis (Z). The fixing elements project on a side of a coolant case in the crankcase parallel to the longitudinal axis. The coolant case in the crankcase firmly extends around the fixing elements.
