A bushing 10, for use with an elongated rodlike member 19 in combination with a support member 18 provided with a keyslot aperture 20, comprises a shank 12 with a head 14 and a through bore 26 and having one or more external shoulders 28 which terminate in abrupt faces which are in opposed spaced relation to the head 14, a number of circumferentiallyspaced resilient strap-like members 40, attached at their opposite ends to the bushing and extending in chordal positions within the bore 26 for deformably engaging the rod-like member 19, the bushing being shaped, e.g. by two flanges 46 extending laterally from the shank 12 on either side of a split 36, for engagement in the slot 24 of the aperture 20, to prevent rotation between the bushing and the support member 18. Opposite the split 36 the head 14 and shank 12 are relieved at 34 so that the bushing can be hinged at 34 for closing it over the rod 19, the head 14 being also provided with peripheral recesses 36 opposite the shoulders 28. The bushing, which is externally tapered, is pushed axially into the aperture 20, the edge of the circular portion of the aperture snapping into engagement between the shoulders 28 and the head 14 and the laterally extending flanges 46 being orientated in the aperture slot 24. The shoulders 28 could be replaced by a groove in the shank. An assembly normally includes a rod (19) supported into two brackets (18) by two bushings (10), Fig. 6, not shown. In an alternative arrangement the resilient chordal members 40 are replaced by axially extending ribs. |
