<p>A hygienic hands free door lock comprising a proximity sensor 6 for actuating the lock. The lock may be powered by electrical mains or a battery and may have a manual override, preferably in the form of a sliding handle 3. Placing a hand near a proximity sensor 6 activates an electromechanical actuator without the need for touching it the lock, thus avoiding the spread of germs and diseases. Lights 4 5 and/or a buzzer 7 informs the user on lock status. A key facility for emergency operation may be located on the outside of the cubicle. The proximity sensor may be activated by the user waving their hand and it sensing the movement.</p> |
