<p>The invention relates to a pharmaceutical formulation for the sustained release of an active agent into the eye, consisting of a biocompatible, biodegradable excipient and an active agent or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; wherein the biocompatible, biodegradable excipient is selected from the group consisting of tocopherol isomers and their esters, tocotrienal isomers and their esters, and benzyl benzoate; and wherein the formulation is implanted or injected directly into the eye.
