In the hydrostatic or telemotor steering system of Patent Application 35449/67 comprising a twin-output control pump 3 driven by a steering wheel 1 and acting as a proportioning means, a device which includes a pair of control valves 4, 5 and is operated in dependence on the steering wheel movements to control the direction of fluid flow from a servo-pump 8, and two hydraulic circuits supplied by the control pump 3 and each comprising the two control valves and a respective servomotor 6, 7; a stop valve 25, 26 is provided between the two lines 21, 23 and 22, 24 at the same pressure between the control valves and servomotors, a stop valve in the event of one of the lines 21 to 24 breaking being automatically displaced to disconnect the broken line from the respective control valve and to connect the control valve to an outlet line 12. The outlet line 12 may lead to a reservoir 9 and the inlet to the servo-pump 8 or to the outlet of the servo-pump. If for example the line 21 broke when supplying pressure fluid to the servomotor 6, the double piston 251 would be displaced upwardly by the resultant pressure differential between the lines 21 and 23 thereby connecting the line 16 to the outlet line 12 and closing the line 21.</p> |
