<p>The present invention relates to a home network, more specifically, to a meta information management structure which is intended to connect and control various devices by using a gateway. The present invention also related to the gateway device using the meta information management structure and control method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the gateway includes: a communication unit which exchanges a signal with at least one external device with wired/wireless communication; a memory part; and a control unit which sets a data path with at least one of external devices and the communication unit, obtains information pertaining to at least one of the external devices through the data path, and stores the obtained information in the memory with a predefined tree structure. The tree includes at least one among a device, device function, a location, a user, a service, a device adaptor, and a gateway on the top layer, is managed on a middleware platform layer, and is referred on a service layer. The control unit manages the operation of at least one external device based on one of the multiple states which is differently defined according to the operation condition of at least one external device and the location of a user.</p> |
