Provided is a method for preferentially connecting to a long term evolution (LTE) network, comprising: the steps of: starting a timer if a terminal having camped on a serving cell in a 2G network needs cell reselection to an adjacent cell in a 3G network; determining the timer is working on an adjacent cell in the LTE network which satisfies a condition for LTE network preferential connection; and if it is determined that the timer is working on the adjacent cell in the LTE network which satisfies the condition for the LTE network preferential connection as a determination result, performing connection to the adjacent cell in the LTE network by stopping the operation of the timer started on the adjacent cell in the 3G network and completing the operation of the timer started on the adjacent cell of the LTE network which satisfies the condition for the LTE network preferential connection.
