(OPI) Oval Platform Dental Implants, a new generation of dental implants, have a wider implant structure (3.75 to 12 mm) and wider platform (oval versus round) versus the cylindrical tapered shape and round platform of conventional dental implants. OPI have a thicker body (3.75 to 6 mm) versus blade shape implants, (2-3 mm), which, due to high failure rate, are not used today. Due to the block shape of OPI's structure (body), which bonds to the bone of the jaw, OPI provides better anchorage and support for supra-structure elements that connect to the implant by two screws and supports fixed or removable prostheses (crowns and dentures). In OPI the same material composition as in conventional implants will be used, which has a high rate of success in bonding to the jaw bone and enough hardness to withstand the biting forces. These materials can be Titanium Alloys and Hydroxyl Apatite. |
