摘要 The present invention relates to a fringe field switching (FFS) liquid crystal display device and a method of fabricating the same, capable of simplifying manufacturing processes and reducing manufacturing costs by forming a common electrode, a protection film, and a pixel electrode through one mask process by using a lift off process. The fringe field switching liquid crystal display device comprises: a gate electrode and a gate line formed in a first substrate; an active layer formed on the gate electrode, with a gate insulating film being interposed therebetween, source/drain electrodes, and a data line intersecting with the gate line to define a pixel region; an interlayer insulating film formed on the first substrate on which the active layer, the source/drain electrodes, and the data line are formed; a common electrode which is formed on the first substrate on which the interlayer insulating film is formed; a protection film formed on the first substrate on which the common electrode is formed; a pixel electrode formed on the protection film so as to have a plurality of slits; an insulating pattern film made of an insulating material inside the slits of the pixel electrode, the insulating pattern film being spaced a predetermined distance apart from the pixel electrode and being disposed in parallel to the slits; and a second substrate attached to face the first substrate.
