<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting breakage of a burner made of quartz capable of detecting instantly and easily breakage of the burner made of quartz or clogging of a gas pipe, and to provide an apparatus and a method for manufacturing an optical fiber preform made of quartz. <P>SOLUTION: In this method for detecting breakage of a burner made of quartz for depositing glass particulates on a starting member by combustion of gas containing quartz glass-based raw material gas, ignition of leakage gas caused by breakage of a burner made of quartz is detected by a temperature detector installed in a holder for holding the burner made of quartz. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
