<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound which is an aromatic polycyclic compound having a high refractive index, having no problems of absorption in an ultraviolet region or fluorescence, having excellent transparency, and polymerizable by an industrially advantageous UV curing device using a high-pressure mercury lamp or the like, and to provide a radical polymerizable composition containing the compound. <P>SOLUTION: A 10-acyloxy-1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydroanthracen-9-yl-(meth)acrylate compound may have a substituent such as an alkyl group, a halogen atom, an alkoxy group, an aryloxy group or an alkylthio group in a tetrahydroanthracene skeleton.
