The purpose of the present invention is to provide an apparatus and method capable of effectively reducing current consumption of an electronic device by measuring a change of the location thereof in a second processor only when a first processor, connected to a plurality of sensors, detects a change in a state of the electronic device. A method for operating an electronic device includes: determining whether there is a change in a state of the electronic device by using at least one sensor provided in a first processor; determining whether to transmit state information from the first processor to a second processor when it is determined that there is a state change of the electronic device; and determining whether to measure a changed location in each set cycle by using a positioning module provided in the second processor according to whether the state information is received.
