The present invention relates to a method for determining the screen brightness of an electronic device and a device thereof. The method for determining the screen brightness of an electronic device includes: checking if a screen display event occurs; if the screen display event occurs, checking if a flip cover is opened or closed; if the flip cover is opened, determining a first brightness value for a full screen display mode; and determining the first brightness value as a second brightness values for a flip cover window display mode. Also, the method for determining the screen brightness of an electronic device and the device thereof can be realized through other embodiments of the present invention.
