The present invention relates to a steering control device and a steering control method and, in particular, to a steering control device and a steering control method which are capable of improving the stability of a vehicle by controlling a steering control signal in order to normally maintain the turning state of the vehicle when the steering control device determines the turning state of the vehicle. The steering control device comprises: a determining part calculating a theoretical yaw rate value based on a steering angle measured by a torque sensor, comparing the theoretical yaw rate value and a yaw rate value measured by a yaw rate sensor, and determining the turning state of the vehicle according to a result from a comparison between the theoretical yaw rate value and the yaw rate value measured by a yaw rate sensor; and a control part controlling a control amount for a control interrupting tire alignment to turn the turning state of the vehicle into a normal turning state when the turning state of the vehicle is determined to be an abnormal turning state. |
