A rectenna for harvesting ambient RF energy for producing electricity comprises RF antenna 101 with frequency filtering components. The antenna 101 may comprise an omnidirectional circular radiating patch 110 and a ground plane 112. The antenna 101 may be an ultra wide band (UWB) monopole. Frequency selective notches or protrusions (110a, 110b and 112a) may be formed on the patch 110 or the ground plane 112 to filter out harmonics generated by a rectifying circuit. The rectifying circuit converts a signal received from antenna 101 into a direct current for supplying an electrical energy storage unit through a power management module. A plurality of transmission lines connects the input of a rectifier with the input of the power management module. The power management module is arranged to be within a boundary defined by the transmission lines. |
