The present invention relates to a method for controlling a mouse cursor using eye recognition and an electronic device using the same. The method for controlling a mouse cursor using eye recognition includes receiving an eye image; determining a gazing point which the eye gazes at by analyzing the eye image; determining a smoothing filter coefficient according to a moving distance of the gazing point; and controlling moving speed of the mouse cursor based on the determined smoothing filter coefficient. The electronic device may adjust moving speed of the mouse cursor according to moving speed of a gazing point which a user gazes at.
