<p>Disclosed are a liquid crystal display and a method for fabricating the same. The liquid crystal display includes: a gate line formed on an insulating substrate; a data line which is formed between the gate line and a gate insulating layer, intersects with them, and defines a pixel region; a thin film transistor which is formed in the intersection region of the gate line and the data line; a planarization layer which is formed on the substrate having the gate line, the data line and the thin film transistor; a common electrode which is formed on the planarization layer and has a groove; a pixel electrode which is formed between the common electrode and an insulating layer on the common electrode. The groove formed on the common electrode is formed in a region corresponding to the data line. Therefore, a liquid crystal display and a method for fabricating the same according to the present invention can improve aperture ratio by forming an FFS mode, reduce the resistance of a common electrode, prevent the signal delay of a data line by including a common electrode including a groove formed only in a region overlapped with the data line, and improve filling error.</p> |
