Pole-handling apparatus, Fig. 1, has a rotatable gripper 74 mounted on a boom 22, 24, 26 which is provided with rods 50 for engaging and levelling a pole when it is parallel with the boom and arms 100a, 100b, Fig. 2, for levelling and stabilizing a pole when it is perpendicular to the boom. The boom is mounted on a slewing platform 16, Fig. 1, and is luffed by rams 34, 36, 38. The a ms 100a, 100b, Fig. 2, are pivoted by rams 120 and the gripper 74 is rotated through at least 90 degrees about a vertical axis by rams 78, 80. The jaws of the gripper are opened and closed by rams. |
