摘要 1,175,549. Delivering shields; endless conveyers. DEVELOPMENT & CONTROL Ltd., S.A. 14 Feb., 1967 [15 Feb., 1966], No. 7100/67. Headings B8A and B8R. General arrangement.-Newspapers fed in an overlapping stream between conveyers 16 and 18 are delivered in counted batches into receptacles 30 movable in an endless path on chain conveyer 42. Receptacles 30 are linked to chains 42 by limited-lost-motion connections and biased in the direction of movement of chains 42 by springs 94. A stop means 100 is engageable in turn with each receptacle 30 preceding the one receiving newspapers from belts 16 and 18 to restrain the receptacle against movement with the conveyer and then to restrain the conveyer whilst the preceding receptacle is being filled. Disengagement of stop 100 after a predetermined quantity of newspapers has been delivered, accelerates the restrained receptacle along the conveyer to intercept the stream cleanly. Receptacles 30 deliver the counted batches to roller conveyer 40. Receivers.-Each receptacle 30 comprises back 34 and supporting fingers 36 and is linked to chains 42 by blocks 82 slidable in channels 88 on rails 34. Pins 90 on rails 34 are slidable in slots 92 in blocks 82 to provide the limited-lostmotion connection. Receptacles 30 are guided by rollers 74 and 80 running in guideways 76 alongside the chains 42. Each receptacle may be arrested by roller stops 104 mounted on lever 106, and engageable with stops 122 on the receptacle. Spring 116 biases roller stops 104 into engagement with stops 122, the roller stops being retractable by means of solenoid 112. Chains 42 are driven through a slipping clutch by motor 54. Delivery in counted batches.-Newspapers are guided by curved members 102 on to the fingers 36 of each receptacle 30 as it moves downwardly on chains 42 below its arrested position, the preceding receptacle being restrained by stop means 100 causing pins 90 to travel to the top of slots 92 due to the continued movement of chains 42 and thus eventually stopping the conveyer. When a predetermined number of newspapers has been delivered as determined by counter 24, solenoid 112 is energized to release the succeeding receptacle which is accelerated by stretched spring 94 in the direction of conveyer movement, thus to intercept the stream. Fingers 36 pass between the rollers of conveyer 40 to deposit each stack 38 thereon.
