Echo delay encoding

Communicating data is disclosed. A time delay encoding a data to be communicated is selected. A sonic signal is combined with a version of the sonic signal that is delayed by the selected time delay. The data is communicated at least in part by transmitting the combined signal to a mobile device.

1. A system for communicating data, comprising:
a processor configured to:
select a selected data content to be communicated to a receiver;select for a first frequency channel, a first time delay value that at least in part encodes the selected data content to be communicated, wherein the first time delay value is selected such that the receiver is able to translate the first time delay value to at least a portion of the selected data content to be communicated to obtain at least a portion of the selected data content to be communicated;select for a second frequency channel, a second time delay value; andcombine a first sonic signal within a first frequency range, a copy of the first sonic signal that is delayed by the selected first time delay value that at least in part encodes the selected data content to be communicated, a second sonic signal within a second frequency range, and a copy of the second sonic signal that is delayed by the second time delay value to generate a combined signal; and a communication interface coupled with the processor and configured to communicate at least a portion of the selected data content at least in part by transmitting the combined signal to a mobile device.
