The assisted device recovery module also includes a cable modem identifier configured to identify the make and model of the cable modem using a fingerprint, wherein the fingerprint includes a hardware version and a software version of the cable modem, a recovery determiner configured to query the database with the cable modem fingerprint and determine an associated recovery action, and a recovery performer configured to perform the associated recovery action on the cable modem. | ||
