A pulse width modulation output temperature sensor device comprising: a linearization module configured to receive a temperature signal from a thermistor and to generate a linear output based on the temperature signal; an analog-to-digital converter module configured to receive the output from the linearization module and to generate a digital signal based on an analog-to-digital conversion of the output from the linearization module; and a digital magnitude comparator module configured to receive the digital signal from the analog-to-digital converter module and to generate a digital pulse width modulation output signal based on a comparison of the digital signal from the analog-to-digital converter module to a binary counter module output, wherein the generated digital pulse width modulation output signal comprises a first electrical state and a second electrical state, the generated digital pulse width modulation output signal being in the first state when the received digital signal from the analog-to-digital converter module is less than the binary counter module output, and the generated digital pulse width modulation output signal being in the second electrical state when the received digital signal from the analog-to-digital converter module is greater than the binary counter module output.
