<p>Provided are a method and an apparatus for providing a video which can enhance the stability of a virtual channel by preventing traffic occurring in a broadcasting server. The method and the apparatus for providing a video can determine when a request for program information is to be transmitted. The method and the apparatus for providing a video can disperse the traffic of a broadcasting server by transmitting the request for program information at determined time to the broadcasting server. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method for providing a video which is performed by an apparatus providing a video on demand (VOD) service comprises the following steps of: determining, by a processing unit, when a request for information on a second program related to a first program in the case that the first program is playing; transmitting, by the processing unit, the request for information on the second program at the determined time to the broadcasting server; receiving, by the processing unit, information on the second program from the broadcasting server; transmitting, by an authentication unit, a request for authentication key creation to play the second program to a digital right management (DRM) server; and receiving, by the authentication unit, the authentication key created by the DRM server from the DRM server, wherein the authentication key is used to play the second program.</p> |
