According to an embodiment of the present invention, an apparatus for working a slot of a casting roll comprises: a measurement unit imaging a rotating casting roll to generate an image information; an image processing unit processing the image information to analyze an actual rotational amount of the casting roll; a control unit generating a rotational signal in accordance to a reference rotational amount as an angle on which the casting roll is intended to be rotated; comparing the actual rotational amount with the reference rotational amount, calculating a correction value to correct a preset slot machining origin, and generating a work signal in accordance to the correction value; a working unit correcting the slot machining origin in response to the work signal, and working the slot to the corrected slot machining origin; and a roll rotating unit rotating the casting roll by the reference rotational amount in response to the rotational signal.
