<p>The invention relates to a method for purifying a glycolic acid obtained by fermentation, as a result of a heat treatment aiming to eliminate the glucose and the residual sugars from the fermenting carbon source. Such a treatment leads to a glycolic acid having an improved heat stability compared to products obtained by means of prior art treatment methods based on distillation and/or crystallisation steps. Advantageously, the glycolic acid produced by the method according to the invention is less subject to recolouration phenomena that generally occur at high temperatures, and can be easily used to produce polymers and copolymers of said acid.</p> |
