Disclosed is an air conditioner for vehicle purifying air flowed into the inner portion of an air conditioner case, sterilizing and deodorizing an evaporator, optimizing an installation position of an optical catalyst module, and facilitating the attaching and detaching of the optical catalyst module for maintenance and repair. The air conditioner for vehicle comprises: the air conditioner case in which an air inlet is formed in an inlet side, an air exhaust hole is formed in an outlet side, and an air passage is formed therein; the evaporator installed on the air passage of the air conditioner case; and a ventilation device to ventilate the air to the inner portion of the air conditioner case. The optical catalyst module is mounted in the internal side of the air conditioner case and includes: a catalyst unit which generates the radical by generating an optical catalytic reaction by the irradiated light; and an optical source unit which is disposed in the upstream or downstream side of the catalyst unit in an air flow direction to irradiates the ultraviolet ray (UV) light in the catalyst unit, wherein the catalyst unit is composed in a dual type of a first catalyst and a second catalyst arranged in the downstream side of the first catalyst as the air flow direction. Therefore, the optical catalyst module can be used almost semipermanent by the selection of the type of a carrier and the proper on/off control of the selection of the optical source unit without separately replacing a filter. The air conditioner for vehicle can purify the air flowed into the inner portion of an air conditioner case, and sterilize and deodorize the evaporator. The air conditioner for vehicle optimizes the installation position of an optical catalyst module and facilitates the attaching and detaching of the optical catalyst module in maintenance and repair.
