<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery separator flame retarded without deteriorating battery characteristics.SOLUTION: In a battery separator obtained by compounding a porous ceramic layer on a porous support comprising a fiber matrix containing a polyester fiber, a surface of the porous support has a flame retardant polyester adhesion layer, and a flame retardant polyester has a molecular weight of from 1,000 to about 100,000, and is a polyester comprising aromatic dicarboxylic acid, such as terephthalic acid and isophthalic acid, and aliphatic glycol, such as ethylene glycol and propylene glycol.</p> |
