PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method pf producing propylene comprising a first stage of carrying out simultaneous dehydration and bone isomerization of isobutanol to form corresponding olefins consisting of a mixture of n-butene and isobutene, being the same in carbon number, and a second stage of carrying out metathesis of n-butene.SOLUTION: A method of producing propylene comprises (a) introducing a flow (A) containing isobutanol into a reaction apparatus, (b) dehydrating isobutanol at least partially and bringing the flow into contact with a catalyst under conditions effective for forming a mixture of n-butene and isobutene by bone isomerization, in the reaction apparatus, (c) recovering the flow (B) from the reaction apparatus and removing unreacted isobutanol to form a mixture of n-butene and isobutene, (d) subjecting the mixture to fractional distillation to form a flow (N) of n-butene and remove isobutene practically, (e) feeding the flow (N) to a metathesis reaction apparatus and bringing the flow (N) into contact with a catalyst in the metathesis reaction apparatus under conditions effective for production of propylene, (f) taking out a flow (P) comprising propylene, unreacted n-butene and heavy matter from the metathesis reaction apparatus and (g) subjecting the flow (P) to fractionation distillation to recover propylene. |
