When transmitting data measured by a sensor to the communication device (102), each node (101) adds the reference number of hops to the data. The communication device (102) receives the sensor data transmitted by each node (101), and through comparison between the actual number of hops taken by the received sensor data and the reference number of hops added to the received sensor data, the communication device (102) determines which of the nodes (101) in the set of nodes (101s) has failed.
