摘要 A method and a device for measuring an effective atomic number of an object. The device comprises: a ray source, used for generating a first X-ray beam of first energy and a second X-ray beam of second energy; a Cherenkov detector (2), used for receiving the first X-ray beam and the second X-ray beam that pass through an object under test, and generating a first detection value and a second detection value; and a data processing device, used for obtaining an effective atomic number of the object under test based on the first detection value and the second detection value, a surface, of an optical-to-electric conversion device (21) of the Cherenkov detector (2), receiving Cherenkov light, is approximately parallel to the incident direction of the X-ray beam. As a Cherenkov detector is capable of eliminating the influences of an X-ray beam under a specific threshold, the accuracy for substance identification is enhanced; meanwhile, due to the special installation position of the optical-to-electric conversion device, the nuclear counter effect can be reduced or eliminated.
