The present invention relates to a remote controller having a dual touch pad and a method for controlling the same, capable of easily and conveniently controlling a controlled device by using the dual touch pad and offering a user environment. The remote controller comprises a communication unit, a first touch pad, a second touch pad, an elasticity layer, a position sensing unit, and a control unit. The communication unit is communicated with the controlled device. The first touch pad outputs a first selection signal to control the controlled device. The second touch pad is installed next to the first touch pad and outputs a second selection signal to control the controlled device. The elasticity layer is formed on each upper side of the first touch pad and the second touch pad. The elasticity layer offers touch sense when the first touch pad and the second touch pad are pressed. The position sensing unit senses whether or not the first touch pad and the second touch pad are positioned in a vertical direction or a horizontal direction and outputs a third selection signal. The control unit receives one among the first to third section signals of the first touch pad, the second touch pad, or the position sensing unit and transmits a control signal to the controlled device. |
