Provided are a liquid crystal display and a method of fabricating the same. A liquid crystal display according to the present invention includes a gate line formed on a substrate; a data line which intersects with the gate line to provide a pixel region; a thin film transistor which is connected to the gate line and the data line; a pixel electrode which is connected to the thin film transistor and is formed in the pixel region; a common electrode which is formed on the same plane as the pixel electrode and forms a lateral electric field with the pixel electrode; and a floating electrode which is independently formed in each of the pixel regions, is overlapped with the pixel electrode and the common electrode to be insulated, and forms a fringe field with the pixel electrode and the common electrode, respectively.
