A lens holding jig (3) is provided with a lower holding section (15) for holding the lower surface of a lens base material (1).  The upper surface of the lower holding section (15) forms a support surface (16) which supports, at two points, the lower edges (S1, S2) of a cut end surface (1a) of the lens base material (1).  An application-liquid release section (17) extending downward is provided at the center of the support surface (16).  The application-liquid release section (17) comprises a long hole, a long groove, or a projection-like body.
