摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refractive index distribution type liquid crystal optical element and a display device capable easily driving with a simple structure at a low cost.SOLUTION: The refractive index distribution type liquid crystal optical element is a liquid crystal GRIN lens array, which has a constitution that a liquid crystal layer 4 is disposed between a first transparent substrate 11 formed over the front face of an image display section 5 and a second transparent substrate 12 facing to the first transparent substrate 11. The first substrate 11 includes a first transparent electrode 21; a second transparent electrode 22; a third transparent electrode 23; a fifth transparent electrode 25; and a transparent dielectric layer 3 formed on the plane at the liquid crystal layer. The first electrode 21, the second electrode 22, the third electrode 23 and fifth electrode 25 are formed extending in a second direction crossing a first direction 61.</p>
