In a map display system (100), a display unit (112) makes a display device for a map display an image of an object present within a display region on a map on the display device. An acquisition unit (113) acquires the image to be displayed on the display device by the display unit (112) from a storage device that stores the image of the object present on the map. Each time the display region on the map on the display device is changed by a user operation, a control unit (116) makes the acquisition unit (113) acquire images of objects present in a region outside of and proximal to the display region after changes in the map. Thus, the map display system (100) can read in advance images for objects present in map regions that might be displayed in the future because of user operations.
