-5 Abstract An open ear clamp has a tightening structure in the form of a so-called Oetiker ear 12. To facilitate the mounting of the clamp on a tube 20, the clamp is pre-deformed in advance, e.g. during manufacture, to such an extent that the clamp surrounds the tube 20, for which it is intended, substantially free of play. Due to the elasticity created in the clamp by this deformation, the clamp can still be moved without effort to the mounting position on the tube 20, but will be held there in its position and in the desired orienta tion.
