Techniques are described for enhancing quality of a first image that is captured in a low-light environment. In one embodiment, a second image is generated by brightening a plurality of pixels in the first image based on a predefined criteria. A third image is generated using an edge-preserving noise reduction algorithm based on the second image. Further, a composite image is generated by obtaining a weighted average of the first image and the third image. The techniques described herein can be applied to an image and/or to each frame of a video that is captured in low-light environments. |
