The present invention relates to a device for controlling a steering wheel and a method for controlling a steering wheel using the same. The device for controlling a steering wheel comprises: a sensing bar provided in at least one of the steering wheels of an industrial vehicle and rotating by link to a steering shaft of the steering wheel; a sensor provided at one side of the sensing bar in order that the sensor senses the steering angle of the steering wheel by means of the sensing bar; and a controller for controlling the steering wheel to be in a neutral state according to a sensing signal of the sensor during the time when power is applied to the industrial vehicle, to thereby initialize the industrial vehicle. Accordingly, when an operator turns on the power of an electric forklift, the steering wheel is always positioned in the forward direction, i.e. in the neutral state, thus enabling the operator to immediately drive the electric forklift without confirming the position of the steering wheel. |
