[Also in Division H1] A cylindrical metal electrode 2, Fig. 2, is made from a metal sheet of for example zinc or magnesium, by stamping, folding and bowing operations, and comprises a base 3 and cylindrical wall 4 which has at least one slit along substantially the whole height. A protuberance 5 and perforations 6 may be formed on the base during the stamping operation. The electrode shown in Fig. 2 is made from a rectangular sheet, and that shown in Fig. 15 is formed from a cut metal sheet, having the shape of a disc connected by strips to two diametrically opposed rectangular portions. The portions are bowed to form half cylinders which are then turned down using the strips as hinges. Alternatively, the bowing operation may be performed after the turning down operation. |
